Community Frequency's Peru work is an assessment mission, not a promise of deployment. The planned mission begins in September 2026.

The first objective is to understand the reality on the ground: what communications already exist, where the gaps are, what information matters, what the environment permits, and what local capacity exists to operate and maintain any future system.

What we want to learn

• What communications systems are currently used?
• Where are the meaningful connectivity gaps?
• What messages or information are most important?
• Are HF, cellular, satellite, or Internet systems already present?
• What terrain, vegetation, weather, power, and antenna-height constraints exist?
• What local technical capacity exists for installation, maintenance, and training?
• What regulatory or equipment authorization requirements apply?
• What community ownership, consent, privacy, and safety considerations must be addressed?

Possible outcomes

The mission is deliberately open-ended. It could conclude that no deployment is appropriate, that more research is needed, that a limited pilot is justified, or that partnership development should come before technical deployment.
